In a way you can't really compare the two but you can if you wanted too. Although both are ment for different riding style and have diffrent amounts of travel the way there suspension design is, its the same. All i hear are good comments about the SS and im pretty set on buying one. As much as I'd like to get an STD, i want to try other companies designs out and if i don't like it (very uncertain) then i could resell just the frame as its coming with an RC4

I've heard so many mixed reviews about the socom. Some people love them where as others just hate them. Reason I had asked you about it was because I'm looking into an intense SS now and both frames are somewhat comparable so I was just getting some intake. I would get the new 2011 or 2012 shocker because I absolutely loved my other 2
but I don't need a full on DH bike, I'm more looking into getting a resort bike that can do it all with something like 7 inches travel and a single crown
